G’day mate,
Ever feel like there’s that little voice whispering in your ear, trying to steer you off track? We all face those moments, don’t we? It could be anything from scoffing that extra biscuit when you’re trying to eat healthier, to putting off an important task. Resisting temptation can feel like a real uphill battle sometimes, and it’s completely normal to struggle with it.
Finding Our Strength
It’s easy to feel defeated when we stumble, but the key is to remember our power to choose. Often, temptation thrives when we’re feeling tired, stressed, or just a bit down. Recognising these patterns in our behaviour is a huge first step. We realise we’re not just passive observers in our own lives.
The Bible offers such a comforting promise here. 1 Corinthians 10:13 reminds us, “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” Isn’t that just brilliant? It tells us we’re not alone and there’s always a way through.
Instead of fighting the urge head-on every time, sometimes the best strategy is to simply change direction or put a bit of space between yourself and the tempting thing. Think of it as steering your boat around a storm, rather than trying to sail right through it. We’re all on this journey, learning and growing. Be kind to yourself, and remember that every small victory strengthens you for the next challenge.
