Jesus described Himself as the Good Shepherd, a truth that brings immense peace. This imagery offers such a deep sense of security and belonging. He isn’t just a distant figure; He personally knows each one of us by name. It’s like He’s always out there, watching, guiding, and ensuring we don’t wander too far from safety.
Sometimes life throws us a curveball, and we feel a bit lost in the wilderness. It’s during these moments that realising we have a Shepherd makes all the difference. He protects us from danger and searches for us when we stray from the path. He cares for our needs with such tender patience and understanding.
John 10:14-15 tells us, “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me—just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep.” This isn’t just a job for Him; it’s a profound, loving commitment to us. His behaviour towards us is always one of pure, unwavering love.
Knowing Jesus is our Shepherd changes everything. We can walk with confidence, knowing we are under His watchful eye and gentle care. There’s a quiet strength in trusting Him to lead us through all of life’s varied pastures.
