Tithing and generosity

Tithing isn’t just about giving 10 percent; it’s a profound act of trust in God’s provision. It’s a way we acknowledge that everything we have is ultimately His. This practice helps us realise money doesn’t own us. Instead, we become stewards of resources, not their masters. Generosity, however, extends beyond just tithing a specific amount.

A Heart for Giving

When we choose to give, our perspective shifts significantly. It’s not about obligation, but a willing heart to share. The Bible reminds us in 2 Corinthians 9:7, “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” This verse beautifully captures the essence of true giving. It encourages a heartfelt and intentional approach. We find immense joy in contributing to good causes and supporting our community. Generosity makes a real difference in the lives of those around us. It’s about looking for opportunities to be a blessing, whether through our finances, time, or talents. Organising our finances to prioritise giving can feel deeply satisfying. Ultimately, both tithing and broader generosity reshape our relationship with wealth, aligning our hearts with God’s.
