Often time we ask God for a bonus, not for a need. We don’t seek a need for the sake of need. We have everything we need but something missing in the middle. I found out that “keep seeking” in Matthew 7, it is about holding the truth.
When you go to shopping to buy a pair of shoes, you had two options made that decision 1- you do really need them 2-you want to give yourself a bonus. You need them because you can’t go to work tomorrow. So, you search until you find them. But for the bonus, it is okay if you search and you don’t find them, because you don’t need them now.
To be honest, most of the time I give my self the bonus. I want them, but I don’t really need them. Another thing I found out about my self that if you ask me I like your jacket, I will immediately ask you, if you need them I can give to you. (but don’t ask me when I have a brand new one, hehe).
It is our nature act, wanting the things we desire, it is completely okay. But we are able to control this feeling (of want), make them look better. In this way , we can seperate our need and desire. When you are asking God for a need, first test it on your heart! Do I need this? Is this God’s good will for me? Or I just want it. For example I have a car, I am asking God, oh God can I buy another brand new car becaue I like that brand. I mean you can see what you need.
THERE was a lot of time. I ask God for a bonus, although God didn’t point it out back to me. After a while I realised. Hmm wait a minute! Why I am asking always a “want” not a need. I could ask God, I really need you. I need you to see my needs and my hearts desire and answer them according to your will. There was another time, I needed to learn how to talk to God. But today I am getting there by the help of the Holy Spirit tell my NEED to him. It is so much easier than before. The moment I open and read bible, the moment I close my eyes and begin to say couple of words than the Holy Spirit does his work and helps me to tell what I need.
Three things you need to remember :
1- knowing that God is real and hears and answers your prayer, he knows what you need
2- Acknowledging that He is in control, the God of all universe dwells into your heart so ask with confidence as you are his heir
3- Believe and Trust in Him. He can turn around your situation, He can do impossible for you. He wants you to trust in his word and promises.
They asked a question from Billy Graham about how do I know God bears my prayerāread how he answered :
“Often, however, God doesnāt answer our prayers the way we think He should because He loves us, and He knows what is best for us. Itās often been said that God answers prayer in one of three ways: āYesā, āNoā, and āWaitāāand itās true. We see only part of the pictureābut God sees the whole. This is why we must seek Godās will when we pray, and not just our own. The Bible says, āThis is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will ⦠we have what we asked of himā (1 John 5:14-15).”
Simple, ask what you need! And also pray for those things you WANT(bonus) . no need to repeat them. God knows.
Example 1:
God I need you. I need to help me to seek you more. I need to pass my exam, assist me to remember and focus on my study that I can glorify your name. Thank you for hearing me and you know my need. In your name. AMEN
Example 2
Father, may I ask a favour, can you heal my back pain? Lord it really hurts, I am going to Dr every week but no healing. I trust you and need you, I know you are a healer. Thank you for healing me. In your name. Amen.
Example 3
Dear Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for me. I love you. You can do impossible things, the miracles will happen, my faith increases, Peace and love will follow. You are all my need. In your name. Amen
You see. Simple as that. Now your turn, tell your needs to God.
