True unity within the body of Christ demands genuine care for one another, recognising the diverse gifts God has given each of us. It’s not about everyone being the same, but about understanding our unique roles in serving the Lord and His people. Just like a human body, every part, no matter how small, plays a vital role in the overall health and function.
Our Shared Purpose
We are called to actively maintain peace and mutual respect, even when our perspectives differ. Ephesians 4:3 reminds us, “making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” This pursuit of harmony isn’t always easy; it requires intentional effort and a humble spirit.
As Dietrich Bonhoeffer wisely observed, “Christian community is not an ideal which we must realise; it is rather a divine reality which has been created for us in Christ.” We aren’t creating this unity, but living into a reality already established. When we live out this God-given unity, our collective witness shines brightly, drawing others to the transforming love of Jesus. Let’s choose today to honour our brothers and sisters, actively seeking understanding and valuing every voice. Our shared purpose in Christ should always unite us, reflecting His heart for a global family.
