Finding intentional rest each week completely transforms my perspective. It’s more than just a break; it’s a deliberate pause, a sacred rhythm we’re invited into. This practice helps us to step away from constant doing and simply be. Our modern lives often push us to exhaustion, making us feel guilty for slowing down.
Embracing the Sabbath Rhythm
Yet, there’s profound wisdom in observing a Sabbath. It’s a chance to recalibrate our souls and remember what truly matters. We are not just human doings, but human beings. The Creator Himself modelled this for us, and He also instructed, “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy” (Exodus 20:8).
Taking a day to honour this ancient rhythm can feel challenging at first, but the peace it brings is immeasurable. It allows our minds to clear, our bodies to recover, and our spirits to reconnect. This isn’t about rigid rules, but about receiving a gift of replenishment for our busy lives. It’s truly a blessing for our overall wellbeing.
