Psalm 119:105 beautifully reminds us, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” This verse isn’t promising a floodlight that reveals the entire future. Instead, it speaks of a lamp for our feet, showing just enough light for the very next step we need to take. It helps us navigate the immediate choices and challenges right in front of us. This means we can realise what’s truly important and make decisions based on eternal truth.
I’ve personally found immense comfort and direction by turning to scripture when I felt lost or confused. It helps me to organise my thoughts, prioritise my actions, and understand God’s perspective on various situations. We don’t need to stumble around in the dark; His word provides the wisdom and discernment needed for today. It guides our behaviour and helps us avoid pitfalls, offering a steady glow for each step of our journey.
