Embracing childlike faith means letting go of the need to understand everything before we believe. It’s about a simple, trusting heart that doesn’t overthink the ‘how’ or ‘why’ of God’s workings. We often complicate things, weighing them down with adult logic and anxieties. But children simply trust, often without question, believing what they are told by those they love.
A Simple Trust
This isn’t about being naive or ignorant; it’s about humility and openness. It’s realising that some things are beyond our full comprehension and that’s perfectly okay. We’re invited to lean into God’s character, knowing He is good and trustworthy, just like a child relies on their loving parent. Jesus Himself taught this, saying, “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
Think about how a child presents their requests. They don’t doubt their parent’s willingness to listen or help. They simply ask, full of expectation and belief. Cultivating this kind of faith allows us to approach God with a similar, unburdened confidence. It frees us from the constant pressure to be in control or to have all the answers. Let’s practise looking at the world, and our faith, through that clearer, less complicated lens.
