Discipleship and growth

Discipleship and growth

Real growth in our faith truly blossoms when we commit to genuine discipleship. It’s more than just attending church; it’s about a continuous journey of becoming more like Jesus in our everyday behaviour. This active process involves learning, listening, and intentionally applying biblical truths to our lives.

The Apostle Peter encourages us beautifully to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18). This isn’t a passive waiting game; it requires us to lean into His teachings.

The Practice of Growing

Sometimes discipleship looks like reading the Bible daily, even when we don’t feel like it. Other times, it’s about having honest conversations with trusted mentors who can offer perspective and wisdom. It also involves letting God challenge areas of our life that need adjusting and realigning.

Growth isn’t always comfortable, and it often feels like pruning. But just like a gardener prunes a plant, God shapes us for greater fruitfulness and purpose. This journey isn’t meant to be walked alone; community plays a vital role in our development. Sharing our struggles and triumphs with others strengthens our resolve and provides encouragement. We’re all on different parts of this wonderful adventure, and that’s perfectly okay. What matters most is our willingness to keep taking the next step with Him.
