One God, Three Persons
It’s about recognising one God existing as three distinct persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. Each person is fully God, yet they are not three gods, but one singular divine essence. This isn’t three separate parts of God, but rather three individual expressions of perfect, unified divinity. Their eternal relationship demonstrates a profound working together in creation, redemption, and our ongoing sanctification.
Jesus Himself commissioned His followers to, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19). This verse clearly shows the distinct yet united nature of God.
Realising this unique relational dynamic within God helps us deeply appreciate His complete love and the community He shares even within Himself, which then graciously extends to us. It profoundly changes our approach to prayer and worship, knowing we draw near to the Father through the Son, empowered by the Holy Spirit. While our finite minds might never fully grasp this divine mystery, embracing it by faith incredibly enriches our spiritual journey and brings immense comfort. It stands as a foundational truth for every believer.
