Book : 1 King 3
King Solomon with all his power and wisdom , says ‘ I am a little child ‘. In Gibeon God came in the dream to Solomon.
God Said to Solomon : ” Ask! What shall I give you? ”
God asking you today ” Ask ! what shall I give you today ? ”
And Solomon said: “You have shown great mercy to Your servant David my father, because he walked before You in truth, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with You; You have continued this great kindness for him, and You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. Now, O Lord my God, You have made Your servant king instead of my father David, but I am a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in. And Your servant is in the midst of Your people whom You have chosen, a great people, too numerous to be numbered or counted.Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?”
God loves to hear our request whatever would be .He longs to know what do you want? Do you want a pure heart? Ask it shall be given to you. Solomon had intended to sacrifice at the high place offerings for His God. But he had believed that this throne did not come easy to Him. His father David made a huge sacrifice for his people. His throne may came with blood and grace.
Now , Solomon was a great man among his people. People honoured Him . People had expectation from Him to Judge them accordingly . He did not need to be rich , His heart was toward His people, that how can I help my people. When He was walking through His father statutes , he is praying under lips and asking himself and God , Oh God these people need a leader can judge them.
He was greatly disturbed with His people, and God knew His heart and intention. That’s why He went at the high place to tell His heart to God. If my intention is not right with Gods plan how can I have expectation to hear his voice! If I only think about my benefit and only me and me.
That’s true, we are free to ask anything ( it is good ) but ask things that can make forward God’s plan. What is God’s plan? His kingdom. His people.
God I want understanding heart to care your people. God give me wisdom to know what is right and wrong. God give me pure heart to know your truth. and many more examples are right in God’s heart. God sees and says ” oh this little child of mine want great things from me and is good and pleasing me ” that time God will show up , that time God will turn up and give you more than you ask.
look at this what God gave to Solomon:” behold, I have done according to your words; see, I have given you a wise and understanding heart,”
He can give you anything . everything is possible for Him. He is God of impossible. His grace is known by His son Jesus . His grace is for everyone. When Solomon confessed to God ‘ I am a little child ‘ , why not us! let all our badge off , let all our position and title off and ask God with a pure heart and see how he will show up and answer!
