The Power of the Choices You Make

One of the most important aspects of our life is making decisions. We make decisions every single day, whether they are small or big, significant or insignificant. I didn’t have the chance to choose my name at birth, and I couldn’t even if I wanted to, because I was just a little child. The same goes for some other decisions in my life; we have no control over them. It seems that the breath of life brings them to us, and we have no choice but to accept them.

I’m not certain whether you can assign a percentage to the extent to which you can make decisions on your own versus how much life dictates to you. There are thousands of choices to consider. Some are social choices, where the country makes decisions for the benefit of all. For instance, stopping at a red light is a legal requirement, but it remains your choice whether to stop, with consequences to bear if you don’t.

Then there are individual choices such as where to live, where to go, what to study, whom to marry, what car to buy, how to build wealth, and how much effort you want to invest in self-improvement, among many others. These are all choices, each with the power to change your direction and forge a path.

Additionally, there are spiritual choices. Besides the outward choices mentioned earlier, there exists a spiritual dimension of choice. Some may ignore it, some may disbelieve in it, but others seize it in a timely manner. You decide whether to believe in it or not, even though your non-choice still carries consequences, much like the other choices mentioned.

You choose to believe, Others only give you options.

Yes, the options are given – you are the one to choose to follow. The red light is there – you must stop or bear the consequences if you do not 🛑

There are physical choices as well. What do I mean by that? I am referring to your body’s movements – how much exercise you engage in, how you take care of your body, what you choose to eat, what you choose not to eat, enrolling in an indoor gym, participating in group activities, and how this lifestyle affects you.

Your movement is depends on your decision-

But somehow, you may be limited in making any truly free and independent decisions in the scenarios mentioned above. What are the alternatives? There should be other decisions that guide and influence the primary ones. ☝️ Keep an open mind and train it in the right way.

Use your decision in the right way; we all make mistakes. I make mistake, you make mistake – the mistakes we make are part of the journey. Proceed with wisdom and seek consultation; ask people who have experience and have already made some of the choices we face, as they can shed light on your own decisions. Keep moving forward. Some decisions require TRUST; trust in your creator, the unseen God, who can assist you in the process.

Here is how a follower of Christ make choices :

Whom do Christians trust in most choices? We trust in God for our decisions. We believe that only God can shine upon our way and lead us home. We know for a fact that God is involved in all the details; however, God has given us the choice to make.

Here, let you and I test this today.

Think about one choice you make today. How intentional was it? can I make it better?

This is what Jesus said about choices :

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Matt 7:13-14
