Jesus’ disciples went fishing all night. It seemed they had been out for a long time without catching many fish. This time, they were determined to stay as long as they could and at least not return home empty-handed. Jesus was resurrected from the dead and appeared to them after that long, tiring night! He called out, “Fellows, have you caught any fish?” “No,” they replied. Then he said, “Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you’ll get some!” So they did, and they couldn’t haul in the net because there were so many fish in it. After that, Jesus had breakfast with them and revealed his identity to them.

That long night of waiting ended with one command from Jesus. Our waiting time can be the beginning of blessings—blessings that we cannot contain. The busyness of life draws us to despair, and somehow we hear God’s voice returning us to life. We don’t need to feel down anymore. As the God of the universe opens the gates of heaven to rescue and bless us, we need to sing a song of deliverance.

See, my friend, think for a moment: God is waiting for our response, even though He knows what is going on in our lives. Just as He knew that His disciples had caught nothing, He still asked them, didn’t He?

It is good for our souls to obey Him. Listening to God’s voice in our decisions and daily lives should be a priority. When we turn and listen to His beautiful voice, our lives will be blessed because we obey God’s voice and what He wants for us. What would happen then? He reveals Himself to us. No, the fires of this life won’t burn us anymore. We walk through the fire with Him. We are strong; we are His. Not only will He have a meal with us, but the King of Kings, who created the heavens and the earth, will meet us right at our table. Will we open our hearts and invite Him in?

Let’s pray:

God of all blessings, Jesus Christ, I thank You for calling us out of misery and inviting us to Your table. Lord, let me accept this invitation to Your table today and have a meal with You. Would You allow me to go deeper to know You? Let me obey You today wholeheartedly. Whatever You say, whenever You lead, I am all Yours. Thank You, Father. In Your name, I prayed. Amen.

“He called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?”

Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.”

John 21:5-6(NIV)

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”

Matthew 4:19 (NIV)
