Just because you had a difficult year doesn’t mean it will continue into the new year. I know, and I may not fully understand, how hard it can be to forgive someone who has hurt you. But I am reminded of Joseph’s story in the Bible—he was betrayed by his own brothers. Can you imagine being hurt by someone you deeply love and trust? Personally, I can’t fully picture the pain and tears Joseph endured during that time.
But that wasn’t the end of his story. Life doesn’t end when we’re thrown into a pit like Joseph. It doesn’t end when the pain feels unbearable and heavy. If 2024 felt like that for you, let me bring you good news: your story is just beginning! There will be a new morning. The sun will rise, smile upon you, and love you even more. There is a God who has written every story on the palm of His hand.
Yes, there will be accusations from every corner. There may be times of waiting, like being in a prison. But it’s okay—I know that even in the prisons of life, God’s favor will follow you.
Start believing. Start trusting. Start dreaming.
The future is brighter than the pain of today. Joseph may not have known that at the time, but he did what he could. He trusted his God to deliver him, and he did what was right. In your lowest moments, God is with you. In your happiest seconds, God rejoices with you.
One thing we can do in the new year is to commit to doing what is right and just. Be kind, love one another, and have a heart of compassion for everyone.
Through the falls and rises of the new year, through crushing moments and newfound freedom, through the desperate roads of this journey—we let God take control.
Let’s purposefully set in our minds, hearts, and souls to shine everywhere we go. That is our ultimate hope in Christ Jesus: to seek peace within and let His light shine through us.
