Returning to Our First Love

Can you believe we’re already in the year 2025?

We’re striving for change—a big change that can have a profound impact on us. Reflecting on past blessings and mistakes, we realise that we still need a significant transformation—a change of heart that truly seeks new blessings. Whether we’ve had a glorious past or a difficult one, it doesn’t matter. What matters is looking upward with a new song, lifting a worship song, and holding God’s hand as we did when we first fell in love with Him.

I wonder, how hard is it for us to fall in love with God again? Is it the experience itself or the familiarity of walking this well-trodden path of faith? Could it be that we’ve seen too much of His miracles and goodness in our lives? Personally, I don’t believe this is the case. Someone who has truly witnessed His miracles wouldn’t stay distant from the Healer. Perhaps it’s because there’s nothing new to our earthly eyes, and we desperately need a fresh encounter.

If you feel like you need more of Him, you’re not alone. If you feel a bit discouraged in pursuing your true calling, this post is for you.

It might be unrelated. Recently, I read a post by a well-known worship leader, where someone asked them, “Why aren’t you married yet?” I didn’t take it as a judgmental question, but it made me think about those who’ve followed Christ for a long time yet haven’t found their God-given person to marry. As a single Christian, I can share from experience: those who wait are chosen. They’re kind people who, despite their mistakes, are deeply in love with God. They want their decision to marry to come from God’s heart. They’re humble, looking to Jesus for guidance.

Personally, This doesn’t mean they don’t want to get married; it means they want the person God has chosen for them. I know there’ll be effort from both sides, but ultimately, only God can do what we cannot.

Your true calling won’t refresh itself—it requires consistently walking in God’s presence.

There are so many distractions and obstacles that tune out the breath of the Holy Spirit in our lives. You know what I’m talking about. We fill our days with busyness, creating endless things to keep us occupied. But there’s no way forward except through a surrendered heart—a heart that willingly spends time with God, who transforms us from the inside out. That’s the secret of a new encounter.

So even in the rubble of life, with all my flaws, I can still raise a hallelujah. Even if others don’t understand your reasons, it’s okay, my friend. God sees you. He is with you. There is a sense of belonging—you belong to Him. Don’t let the familiarity of His presence dull your true calling, nor let the lack of visible changes discourage you.

Can we return to our first love? Can we close our eyes for a moment and, from the bottom of our hearts, say:

JESUS, I LOVE YOU.

If this message speaks to your heart, take a moment today to reconnect with God. Set aside time to reflect, worship, or pray. Let’s walk together on this journey of renewal, seeking Him with a heart full of surrender. Share this post with someone who might need encouragement, and let’s remind one another of His unfailing love.❤️
