I remind myself of the story of imperfect people throughout history. What is fascinating is that when you look into the Bible, you still see imperfect individuals. The Bible mentions over 3,000 named people, from Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham, and David to Paul and many others. Out of them all, only one is perfect: Jesus.
Our imperfections will never stop God’s plan for our lives, because we are chosen. God’s chosen people strive to obey Him and walk in the direction He calls them. Mistakes and flaws are inevitable, but because God created us with free will, we have the choice to listen to the voice of the Good Shepherd and move forward; or remain stuck in a world of imperfection.
Romans 3:23 says:
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
No one else can condemn us. It comes down to our own choice whether we will be led by God. All my years of imperfection cannot change God’s mind about me or His purpose for my life.
We should take this and know that we are imperfect, yet chosen. We are deeply special in the Father’s eyes. I’m not saying this to bring us down, but to lift us up to a higher place, where only God can heal the wounds of life. The battle is tough, but surrender brings joy and a far better outcome. The moment you understand that only Jesus is perfect, you release yourself from the pressure of the world and let Him take control of your life. Let’s see what God can do! He takes our brokenness and transforms it into something beautiful and amazing, beyond anything we could ever imagine.
The chosen people are those who continue to follow Jesus even in their weakness, never letting go of Him. Or rather, we should say: God never lets go of them.
How do you know you are chosen? You have a heart of confession. No matter what you do or what you have done, you remember God, you put Him first, you cry out to Him, you go to Him.
I love this quote from Bonhoeffer:
“God did not make us perfect Christians in one stroke. He calls us as we are, and only His grace makes us what we are not.”
You and I have a chance! We have grace that covers us and empowers us to be better in this chaotic world. Let’s take this and do great things for God; not by human strength, but by His Spirit. This body can become an instrument of grace for His glory.
