When I see the injustice in a land once known for love, when a terrible holocaust is happening in Iran, my heart breaks. I am trying to remain humble. I am trying to pray according to God’s will. I am trying to gather people around me to pray for this land. What else can I do? I come before God like the tax collector, entering His presence and saying, “God, I am a sinner; have mercy.”
Have mercy on the people of Iran. Push aside the thick darkness from that land, and let the light of the Lord shine upon it.
The true reason I have not been able to come here, or even find the heart or the words to write, is this: over the last three to four weeks, civilians—especially the youngest members of society, have been killed simply for going into the streets to claim their basic freedoms and human dignity. Thousands have been killed by the Islamic Republic regime. Thousands upon thousands have been injured, and thousands more are waiting to be executed.
Our fair and just God, our Father in heaven, sees all of this. He is not silent. Our God is patient, just as He was with the nation of Israel, whom He delivered from misery and slavery and led into the Promised Land.
Over the past month, God has restored and pieced me back together. He reminded me that vengeance belongs to Him. He holds the keys of heaven and earth. The sinful nature of humanity may reign for a short time in this broken world, torn apart by wicked acts, but God sees every injustice and He will act according to His glorious love and mercy.
Who are we to stand before His throne? And who are those who oppress and persecute His people to think they can stand? They imagine they are serving God by killing and oppressing those made in His image. But our true and living God will judge. Our Jesus, who died on the cross for everyone, will judge.
He has promised to bring His people out of misery and pain. His eyes see more clearly than any eagle’s. His heart is greater than all, and His thoughts are higher than any human thought. I stand here to testify to His salvation for all people.
Yes, my friend, it is hard to write in these days. But the light has already won. We have already won the battle in the name of Jesus. God has given us victory in Christ Jesus our Lord and Saviour.
We pray for the souls who have lost their way, not yet knowing their true Lover—Jesus. We pray for Iran: for freedom, for the light of the Lord, for salvation of souls in Jesus’ name, and for every evil chain to be broken by His mighty power.
There is power in the blood of Jesus. We choose to trust Him—that His blood washes over our land. We do not lean on our own understanding, but on the Lord God, who is faithful and full of love.
What can we say in a world filled with war, injustice, oppression, and persecution in every corner? We choose humility. We let God be God. And we humbly cry out, “Lord, have mercy on our land. Have mercy, Lord.”
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
John 1:5 NIV
We Pray for Iran.
