G’day everyone,
Have you ever thought about the “fruit of the Spirit”? It sounds a bit abstract, doesn’t it? But really, it’s about what kind of person we become from the inside out. It’s not about growing actual apples or pears, but about cultivating a beautiful character in our lives.
Imagine your inner garden. When we open ourselves up to goodness, certain qualities naturally start to blossom. These aren’t things we force, but rather they emerge as we journey through life with an open heart and a willingness to grow.
The Bible lists these wonderful qualities as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. They’re like different flavours from the same healthy tree, all connected and working together.
As it says in Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” These aren’t separate virtues to tick off a list, but rather a holistic transformation that shapes our entire being.
Cultivating this fruit isn’t a quick fix; it’s a lifelong process. It means choosing to act with compassion, finding delight even in tough times, and extending grace to others. It influences how we treat our neighbours, manage our own reactions, and approach daily challenges.
When we allow these qualities to flourish, our lives become richer, and we bring more warmth and positivity into the world around us. It’s a journey of becoming more truly ourselves, reflecting something genuinely good.
