Day 7 of 7-day Devotion : Not My Way, But His

For days, I found myself unable to write this devotion. I wanted to share something that truly came from God’s voice in my heart. As I spent time reading the Bible and praying, I felt God leading me to reflect on His ways. I kept repeating to myself, “Not my way, but His way.”

Throughout life, we often strive to go our own way, finding our path as we see fit. Yet, as we gain experience, we come to realise that our ways are not always best—sometimes not even close—and occasionally, we end up on a path opposite to what God intended.

The good news is that God’s ways are better than ours, and we have the opportunity to align our choices with Him. His plans are always greater, always better.

We want everything on our own terms. I am guilty of this; I don’t know about you, but I need Jesus to lead me every day. Like a lost sheep, I need to be found by Him. Jesus is our Good Shepherd, and He won’t stand by while we’re lost, going our own way. He won’t allow His beloved to be separated from His love. Have you ever felt lost? Don’t worry—even when we don’t know what to do, He’s thinking of us, loving us, and showering us with His grace. His ways are higher, His thoughts are above ours.

On this last day of our devotion, let’s release our own ways and embrace His. Let us return home, offering our prayers as a sweet fragrance to His presence. Jesus died for us on the cross and rose again so we could have His way—the way of peace, love, hope, and life. Sometimes, we’re in awe of His hand in our lives. We make mistakes; we have flaws; we’re only human. But we need to invite Jesus to be the captain of our broken ship.

We don’t take a step forward without first hearing His beautiful voice. Let’s hold this truth in our hearts: from now on, Jesus will be the center of our lives. As He said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

Finally, I encourage you: come as you are! Jesus finds the lost sheep and brings it home. Let His way become our way—held forever in the arms of Jesus.

Let us pray:

Father God, thank you for accepting us as we are. Thank you for your Son, Jesus Christ, who became our way—the best way possible to save us. From now on, take my life and let Your way shine through me, Lord. My life is Yours; my way is Yours; my everything is Yours. Thank you for eternal life in Jesus. Amen.

John 14:6

“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”

Isaiah 55:8-9

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
