Over the past few weeks, the world seems to have gone crazy. If you are old enough to follow the news and pay attention to what is happening around you, you may realise just how much unrest and uncertainty there is. It feels as if peace is disappearing, and turmoil is spreading everywhere.
Unfortunately, as we grow older, the reality of the unknown becomes more real to us. We hear about wars, pandemics, sickness, and so many unhealthy things happening in the world. Sometimes it is hard to believe that such things come from humanity; people created in the image of God.
I thought we were meant to build and create. We came into this broken world to make it better for ourselves and for those around us. Yet when we read the Bible, we realise that these struggles are not new. In ancient times, people also faced war, sickness, famine, natural disasters, persecution, death, and deep personal suffering.
Why am I talking about this? Because despite all these things, we are given a powerful assurance. Yes, my friend, we are guaranteed victory through Jesus Christ our Lord, who loves us deeply. Through Him, we are more than conquerors.
Because of this, there should be a difference between us and the world around us; a good and godly difference. Our hope is not in the things we see or in the events happening around us today. We may experience suffering in the present, but it will not last forever.
Even death itself cannot take away our victory. Our peace lives within our hearts, where Jesus reigns forever. You and I can become a source of hope to this broken world, my dear friend. Nothing; not even the angels of heaven; can break the bond of love between us and our Heavenly Father. When we are in love with God, we are in a safe and secure place, hidden in His love and surrounded by His peace.
Mistakes are inevitable sometimes, but we do not allow them to control our lives. We surrender our hearts and confess with our souls that we need God every day. We pray deeply for our loved ones, for our friends, and for the city we live in, because we know that all things in this world will perish, and only the love of our Lord Jesus stands forever; unshakable. We pray for our broken world with the same care and passion that we pray for our own family.
I love what A.W. Tozer said:
“The Holy Spirit knows how to bring conviction without destroying hope.”
A world without the Holy Spirit would be like a body without breath; present, but without true life. Like a candle that exists but does not give light. Imagine that! Imagine our lives without the Holy Spirit of God! We need His Spirit to guide us every single day, to reveal the secrets of the Father, and to seal the blood of Christ in our lives.
So, dear friend, what steps can you and I take today to make our world better? Pray! Build ourselves and others with the true Word of God! Let’s begin by examining our hearts first.
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:37–39 (NIV)
Pray,Think! and Act.
